English Diary stores all your diary entries locally on your device. When you ask for an AI correction, the text you wrote is sent directly from your device to Google Gemini using your own API key. We operate no server and never receive, store, or have access to your diary.
1. Overview
English Diary - AI Writing Coach ("the App") helps you write a diary in English and receive warm, encouraging AI corrections. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information is involved and how it is handled.
The App requires no account or login. Your diary entries, corrections, and saved expressions remain on your device.
2. Data Storage
All data created within the App — diary entries, AI correction results, saved expressions, photos you attach, and settings — is:
Stored locally on your device using on-device storage
Never uploaded to any server operated by us (we run no backend)
Never accessible by the developer
Removed permanently when you uninstall the App
3. AI Correction and Your API Key
The AI correction feature works using your own Google Gemini API key, which you enter in the App's settings:
Your API key is stored securely on your device using the operating system's secure storage (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore). It is never transmitted to us.
When you request a correction, the diary text you wrote is sent directly from your device to Google's Gemini API (generativelanguage.googleapis.com) to generate the correction.
This transmission happens only when you explicitly request a correction. Your text is not sent anywhere otherwise.
The handling of data you send to Gemini is governed by Google's terms and privacy policy for the Gemini API.
4. Information We Collect
4.1 Advertising Data
The App shows ads through Google AdMob (banner, interstitial, and optional rewarded ads). AdMob may collect:
Device advertising identifier (IDFA/GAID)
IP address (for approximate location-based ad targeting)
Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks, completions)
On iOS, the App asks for your permission (App Tracking Transparency) before using your advertising identifier for personalized ads, and a consent form (Google UMP) is shown where required.
4.2 Device Permissions
The App may request the following device permissions, each only when you use the related feature:
Notifications: Optional, to send daily reminders to write your diary.
Camera / Photo Library: Optional, to attach a photo to a diary entry. Photos stay on your device.
Face ID / Biometrics: Optional, to lock and unlock the App locally. Biometric data never leaves your device and is handled by the operating system.
5. Information We Do NOT Collect
Your name, email address, or personal identity
Your diary entries or correction results (we have no server)
Your Gemini API key
Account credentials (no account required)
Usage analytics or behavioral tracking by the developer
Payment or purchase information (no in-app purchases)
No other third-party analytics, crash reporting, or tracking SDKs are integrated into the App.
7. Children's Privacy
The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. It requires no account registration. Ad content is configured for a general audience.
8. Data Deletion
Since all your content is stored locally on your device, you can delete it at any time by:
Deleting individual diary entries within the App
Removing your Gemini API key in the App's settings
Uninstalling the App (removes all local data permanently)
We have no access to your data and cannot delete it on your behalf.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
